Every London borough has a great Aussie café and Flotsam & Jetsam is just that café for the borough of Wandsworth. Buzzing with a weekend crowd, it keeps its regulars happy with classic brunch dishes and a great selection of teas, courtesy of T2.
Wooden tables, soft cotton scatter cushions, brick walls, a stone fireplace and upside down baskets of greenery hanging from the ceiling give the homely room plenty of charm. It’s a welcoming place where you could settle in with a good book, or cosy up with a loved one over a cup of artisanal coffee (£2.00-£2.70) or a pot of tea (£2.70-£3.50). Whether you prefer a traditional English Breakfast, caffeine free Rooibos, zingy lemongrass and ginger or refined French Earl Grey, the wide range of T2 teas will cater to your fancy.
Classic brunch dishes are given a twist at Flotsam and Jetsam. The eggs Royale (£10.00) comes with a citrusy lime-mirin Hollandaise sauce, with thick cut, succulent coral salmon, served on flavoursome wheat and rye toasted bread. And the Aussie favourite of smashed avocado toast (£7.70) is spiked with salty feta, piquant chilli and aromatic fresh mint.
Another favourite dish amongst diners seemed to be the chorizo scramble (£7.50); buttery scrambled eggs served with saffron chorizo, spongy focaccia bread and a sticky balsamic reduction.
